Biography

Ms. Harington has a remarkable affinity with the music of Bach and an ability to transcribe the music into a visual form that resonates with its aesthetic, scientific and transcendental dimensions. Her extensive theoretical and practical experience with classical music , as well as her painting printmaking and etching qualify her to undertake this exploration. Each piece is beautifully executed and satisfying in itself as a work of art but as a series presented with accompanying writings and a performance of the Music becomes a truly significant contribution to the fields of both music and art.
Elizabeth Harington was born of British parents in Pretoria, South Africa. She received a bachelors degree from the Witwatersrand University, Johannesburg, South Africa, 1964. IN 1965-1966 for two years she pursued a Bachelor of Music Degree excelling in the piano. Harington developed a deep interest in the musical interpretation of a score focusing on the relationship between art and music, She has been productive as an artist, teacher and printmaker.
Harington has shown internationally in Norway, Sweden, London, Spain, Poland , Germany, South Africa , Zimbabwe, Japan, Australia as well as throughout the United States. Her work is at presented in many prominent collections including those of the Metropolitan, New York Public Library, Columbia University, Harvard University and Christie's International. She is the recipient of many awards including the Pollock Krasner in 2001 and the Gottlieb Foundation.
